Here at Space for Healing we have two experienced Psychotherapists with a range of different skills and practices to help you on your journey to healing.
My passion lies within helping people which is what has brought me here to the world of Psychology and Psychotherapy. I absolutely love what I do and I am always learning to improve my practice with my clients.
From a young age I found myself always willing to listen to others and their story. My calling towards counselling others evolved in my late teenage years as I was the “go to” person that people would talk to when they needed someone to listen and I saw that I was easily susceptible to building trust with others even when they had met me for the first time!
Outside of the therapy space I enjoy socialising with others, going on food adventures with my partner and spending time cuddling with our two dogs. I love to move my body, going on long coastal walks, swims at the beach and you'll often find me working on my fitness at the gym. From a young age I have also been involved in the performing arts singing, dancing and playing the piano. One day I hope to bring my musical skills in the therapy space!
I hold a bachelor's degree in Human sciences with a major in counselling and psychology from Macquarie University as well as a Masters in Psychotherapy in counselling from Western Sydney University. I am a registered Psychotherapist with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).
My experiences lies within working with trauma and helping people overcome life's adversities. I have worked closely with people who have experienced complex trauma events and suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder. However, I am also no stranger to helping those who also suffer from many aspects of anxiety and depression.
The modalities that I use within my practice includes:
Different modalities in therapy are used based on the client’s needs and goals.
I am a strong believer in building relationships in the therapeutic space. With each of my clients, I work towards building trust and rapport so I can provide a safe space and comfortable environment. My aim as a therapist is to help clients leave sessions with greater self-awareness the and effective tools to become the person they desire to be! I like to take my clients on a journey towards discovery of their deeper self so they can continue to navigate their way through life with clearer insights.
Having my own past experiences, I myself have gone on my own Psychology journey which has been life-changing and I encourage you to do the same if you are looking to take the path to healing.
I hope to help you on your journey towards healing here at Space for Healing
What got me started on my journey to becoming a psychotherapist, was becoming aware that I loved to learn about the mind-body connection. This was during my time in America playing baseball at college. I found myself moving towards Dr Gabor's mate work and this is how I discovered Internal Family Systems Therapy and Emotional Focused Therapy.
I have also taken myself on the journey of seeing an IFS Therapist not only as part of my training but also as a self-discovery for myself and to understand what parts of me are still holding to extreme or burdened feelings and emotions from the past.
My therapeutic process is to understand your parts to the best of my ability as I am walking alongside you. This then helps you understand your parts that have been locked away, or to scared to be seen. My role is to help soften your protective parts, through compassion, respect, and hearing their own stories. I aim to help my clients to develop a better internal relationship with themselves and others around them that they might want to improve upon.
Just a bit more about myself and my hobbies. I love my sports, as I have played baseball, Rugby league, AFL, and trained in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. I love to read and listen to podcasts about psychology, whether it's about neuroscience from DR Andrew Huberman, or parenting from Dr Becky Kennedy. In my free time, I also love to go fishing with my mates and spend as much time outside as I can.
